Skiing and Snowboarding
Located just 10 minutes from our private resort within the Park Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Steamboat Ski Area is comprised of six peaks: Mt. Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Christie Peak and Pioneer Ridge®. 2,965 acres/1,200 hectares of terrain offer a diversity of trails for all ability levels. Gladed areas of Pioneer Ridge, Sunshine and Storm Peak are Steamboat’s particular claim to fame, with Champagne Powder® snow in the trees for the most avid powder hounds. Remember, the term Champagne Powder was coined in Steamboat and this is the only place you’ll find it!
Bella Vista’s private shuttle will drop your ski group off at the gondola for door to door service from our private resort to the ski area base.

Champagne Powder snow is registered trademark of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. Local legend says rancher Joe McElroy coined the phrase before the ski area opened. Out skiing one sunny day in the early fifties on what eventually would be the ski area, he turned to a few friends and said the stuff looked like champagne…champagne powder. No other ski resort has its snow trademarked.
2009/2010 Steamboat Ski Resort Improvements
Intrawest has spent $2.5+ million on improvements for this ski season at Steamboat Ski Resort, including improvements on snowmaking, grooming equipment, a new First Aid facility, expansion of the Meadows Parking Lot, and opening a new Steamboat Ski & Sport ticketing office location in downtown Steamboat Springs.
Mavericks Superpipe and Terrain Park
Skiers and riders agree Steamboat has the pipe and park to reckon with. Steamboat’s terrain park, serviced exclusively by its own chairlift, offers 11.8 acres of terrain for all ability levels. This terrain park, adjacent to Mavericks superpipe, features an outdoor sound system and a variety of rails: kinked, sliders, rainbows, “S’s”, mailboxes, and double barrels. Mini-Mav, a miniature version of the superpipe with five-foot walls, is perfect for novice riders.
