Snowcat

Offering full day snowcat skiing and snowboarding trips since 1983, Steamboat Powdercats is Steamboat’s best kept secret. With 10,000 acres of permitted National Forest terrain located just 20-min from the Steamboat base area on Buffalo Pass, Steamboat Powdercats will get you into the powder even when it hasn’t snowed for a week and even more important, when it’s dumping and the gondola is closed. Their all inclusive day tours will spoil you rotten. They book their guests by ability level so you and your group will have to define if you are experts, advanced or intermediate skiers. That’s right, they even take intermediate skiers and will match the group with mellow, low pressure terrain. They include everything for their day rate ($400/guest during 2009/10 season): powder specific ski’s and snowboard, avy beacons, poles, breakfast, lunch, 3 guides per group, a maximum of 12 guests per cat and 8-16 runs per day. Better yet, they have a photographer who tags along for some runs to capture the experience and provide a disk to you complimentary at the end of the day during the post trip beverages and slide show at their office. Check out their website here at http://www.steamboatpowdercats.com/ or their daily photo and video blog page during the winter season which they keep active on most days: http://www.steamboatpowdercats.com/videos/index.htm
